Expert opinion

BGaming was inspired by a very similar field to gambling - trading. The result is Retro Trader, a game in which gamblers have to guess whether the "course" will go up or down. I did not immediately understand the principle of winning or losing a bet, even when I read the rules. But when I figured it out, I got sucked in and didn't notice how I spent a couple of hours in the game.

Where to Play?

It can take a long time to find a good casino with BGaming games, because you have to check every site. You can spend more than one hour searching. Or you can do it the easy way - choose a proven casino and spend the time you save playing Retro Trader.

Play Free Demo

Even a gambler with many years of experience is unlikely to understand the rules of Retro Trader at a glance. That's why it's better to start with the demo mode.

We have placed the free demo at the beginning of the review so that everyone could test the game without registering an account.

Verified NZ Online Casinos

In addition to the demo, we've also embedded in the Casinoz review a list of casinos with several verified casinos that definitely have Retro Trader. The block is located at the end of the page. If you don't want to go to a casino at random, you can read reviews about each casino first, compare, and choose the most convenient one for yourself.

How to Play Retro Trader (BGaming)

In Retro Trader, the gameplay is divided into rounds. There is a break of 7 seconds between each round. The playing field is a table divided into 2 halves: negative values go down and positive values go up. The field is similar to a price chart on the stock exchange, where the change of quotes is shown. At the beginning of the round, a line starts moving from left to right on the field. It can go up (up) or down (down). The player has to guess whether the round will end with a rise or a fall. At the end of the round each player gets a payout anyway, but its size depends on whether he guessed the outcome and by how much % the line indicated. For example, a player bet 10.00 on the upside. The line indicated growth and stopped at 20% - the player will get a payout of 12.00. Another example: a player bet 10.00 on growth, but at the end of the round the line indicated a fall and stopped at 15% - the player will receive a payout of 8.50 (i.e. he will lose 15% of the bet). There is an autoplay.

Bets can be placed from 1.00 to 10,000.00.

RTP, Volatility & Hit Frequency

Retro Trader has a surprisingly high RTP - 99.06%. I can count the projects with such a return rate on my fingers. Such a good RTP works because even a losing bet is not burned out completely: a part of the sum is still returned to the player.

Strategy: How to Win

In Retro Trader, the outcome of each round is always unpredictable. It is chosen by a random number generator that cannot be analyzed. That's why you need to play only on your wits - there are no winning strategies.

The only advice that can help is not to risk large (for your balance) amounts at once: it is better to make many small bets. In this way, the fun will be extended and there is a chance that you will be lucky enough to catch big winnings.

Interface

Retro Trader's interface is stylized as retro (as the name suggests, though). There are a lot of elements on the screen, so be prepared that at first glance nothing will be clear. In the center is the playing field. At the bottom of it there are 11 rectangles - these are the results with which the previous rounds ended. To the left and right of the field there are 2 identical blocks with buttons to participate in the next round. The one on the left is Down (for betting down) and the one on the right is Up. Each block shows the number of players who have chosen that outcome. Above the playing field there is a round counter (counts down the time to the next round) and a menu button on the left. The menu hides the history of player's bets (total, for all sessions), the history of bets in the current session, and a link to the rules. Also in the menu you can change the volume of sound and music, and choose a dark or light theme of the interface design. Under the playing field there are 4 buttons: autoplay settings, - and + (to change the bet), and Max (to set the maximum bet). The selected bet size and balance are displayed below. In the autoplay settings you can choose what to bet on (always Up, always Down, random Up or Down), choose the number of rounds (from 10 to 1000, or infinite), and set the conditions to stop autoplay (on any win, on winning X amount, or on reducing/increasing the balance by a set amount). Here are some recommendations from my experience for anyone interested in Retro Trader:

  1. Launch the demo at the beginning of the page and evaluate the appearance. Retro is not to everyone's liking.

  2. Read the rules section at the beginning of the review, and then practice them.

  3. Try playing in auto mode - you may like it better than manual play.

Mobile Compatibility

I ran Retro Trader on two phones and a tablet to test the mobile version on iOS and Android browsers. Including tried to play on a budget old Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 - no problems on it. As for usability: the interface is best suited for horizontally stretched screens (tablet or phone in tablet orientation).

Should You Play for Real Money in New Zealand?

Casinoz expert's conclusions: the game definitely deserves an "excellent" for the design and for the way the payout mechanism is implemented (i.e. you can bet on the upside or the downside and get money either way, even if the bet loses). I also liked the design - I like simple interfaces.
