Horse races. Riders number 8 and 9

The cheating, which we would like to discuss, occurred in the '80s at the horse track. A famous businessman, Laurie the Console, was behind it.

He participated in the horse races himself. Lori wanted to come first and win a significant amount.

Horse Track Swindlers

To complete it, he needed the help of his rival.

Laurie invited a jockey named Denis, who was supposed to ride a horse named Strain Soft. This horse was known as one of the best, and Denis had the glory of a good jockey, so no one doubted their victory.

Lori involved Denis in this fraud, and he agreed to simulate a fake falling from the horse. Thus, Lori came first.

Denis was promised quite a significant amount of money for participating. Understanding that jumping off the galloping horse surrounded by opponents is very dangerous, he risks his life.

Cheaters' Technique

Lori made not a small bet on himself. This step was alarming. Bookmakers understood that something was bound to happen. But no one could predict that.

Den's horse was confidently keeping the leading position, but the jockey jumped off and pretended to injure his leg shortly before the finish line. Lori came first. This happened in front of a large audience.

However, the fraud was not successful.

  • First, Danny played his fall badly. Many people noticed that he did not fall but just jumped off.
  • Secondly, this kick on the sidelines should have deformed his boots sewn from the finest leather.

Lori knew he had lost but did not want to be responsible for it. He made another arrangement with Denis and sent him to another country. For nine years, he sponsored his journey around the world.

Denis's task was to stay outside the country. However, he was long-awaited at home for all these years, and no one would let him go away with such a crime.

Sad Ending

Realizing that he would not return home, he was arrested in Singapore in 1992 and then deported.

There, he confessed without the slightest resistance, got 11 months in prison, and was deprived of the right to participate in the horse race. The same fate befell Laurie.
